ferry schedule & prices >>Balearia Caribbean is still working on its landing in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. It wants to set up a new ferry route between Mayagüez (Puerto Rico) and San Pedro de Macorís (Dominican Republic) during the second half of 2024.
The local media in Puerto Rico have reported on several visits that Balearia’s executives have made to the Puerto Rican town of Mayagüez, where they met with the local authorities and the consul of the Dominican Republic to finalize the operational details.
Throughout 2023, Balearia’s employees have been constantly visiting Puerto Rico.
Since August 2023, they have held meetings with the providers of logistical services, movement and transportation of cargo, fuel suppliers and customs officials among others. They have also made the relevant visits to the local ports of both territories where they will have to carry out certain adaptation works to ensure the docking and undocking maneuvers, as well as to ensure the correct loading of the merchandise on the ferry.
The ship that will be used for this servive by ferry Mayaguez San Pedro is still not known for sure. Everything points to the fact that it will be the Jaume II ship, which currently connects the routes Fort Lauderdale Bimini and Fort Lauderdale Freeport in Florida, US, to assign another fast ferry to the routes that connect Florida and the Bahamas.
The expected date for the ferry Puerto Rico Dominican Republic of Balearia Caribbean to start its activity is, at this moment, September 2024.

ferry schedule & prices >>During the past year 2022 Balearia Caribbean reached 112,000 passengers on its routes between Fort Lauderdale (Florida, US) and the ports of Bimini and Freeport - Grand Bahama - in the Bahamas islands. This result represents an increase of 50% compared to 2021.
Although it has not yet been possible to recover the same level of passengers that was transported in 2019 between Fort Lauderdale (Fll) and the Bahamas, it is expected that for this year 2023 the occupancy levels of the Balearia ferry will be the same, reaching 125,000 passengers.
The volume of merchandise has been maintained with respect to the year 2021, carrying 20,000 units. In total, a total of 450 crossings have been made, with some 27,000 miles traveled.
4 weekly crossings between Fort Lauderdale and Bahamas in low season that are 6 weekly crossings during the months of maximum occupancy in summer. During the low season in the Bahamas, the Balearia Caribbean shipping company makes three daily connections from Port Everglades to the island of Bimini (the well-known Bimini ferry or Bimini express ferry) and 2 weekly connections to the port of Freeport, on Grand Bahama Island. In summer, and depending on the demand of passengers who want to go by ferry to the Bahamas, departures increase daily.
Spring Break 2023. To give you an idea of the magnitude of Balearia Caribbean as a ferry company in the United States, during Spring Break 2023 campain it will transport a total of 10,000 students to the Bahamas over a period of 20 days, from March 11th to April 1st.
Most of them will visit the island of Grand Bahama and will stay, in All Inclusive, at the Viva Wyndahm Fortuna Beach hotel, an All Inclusive hotel in the Bahamas where they can enjoy the wonderful waters and beaches of the Bahamas, water activities and of course, dance until your feet hurt.
Baleria Caribbean (Balearia ferry) celebrated in 2022 its 11th anniversary of the establishment of connections between Fort Lauderdale and Freeport (Grand Bahama). Its arrival on Bimini Island was in 2019, so this is its 4th year operating the Bimini ferry route.
Internationally, its parent company is located in Spain, and it also operates routes in France, Algeria and Morocco. Its international expansion plans are focused, in addition to its more local areas of interest (such as North Africa and France) in the Caribbean, where it intends to expand by connecting Cuba with Florida, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

From these offices and ports the Balearia boat departs, they are the boarding point and you can buy ferry tickets directly too.
The Fort Lauderdale offices, in Port Everglades, are where passengers embark to Bimini and Grand Bahama (Bahamas). As a general rule, boarding takes place at Terminal 21, although it is always good to make sure that there has not been a last minute change in the departure terminal. Balearia is working on being granted its own terminal in the port of Port Everglades..
In Bimini, the Balearia office is located in a yellow house in Fisher Village, less than a 5-minute walk from the Hilton Hotel. The boarding pier is also a 5-minute walk away. From the office there is a free transfer that leaves you at the ferry door before boarding.

During the celebration of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) that took place in Madrid from January 17th to 22th, 2023, the shipping company based in Denia (Alicante), Balearia ferry awarded a group of travel agencies for their trajectory and results during the past year 2022.
I Love Ferry, the company of which we are a part, was awarded by Balearia as the European agency with the greatest increase in sales on the routes in the United States and the Bahamas in the first two years that I Love Ferry has been selling these routes between Fort Lauderdale and the islands of Bimini and Grand Bahama.
Our Marketing Director collected the Balearia Caribbean Rookie 2022 award from the Sales Director of Balearia in Spain and our Denia salesperson during the award ceremony for travel agencies.
This type of event and many others, such as those that took place during the International Tourism Fair, are among the events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the foundation in 1998 of the Balearia ferry shipping company. Throughout this year 2023 Balearia will carry out various events to commemorate its anniversary.
